This assortment of 12 Carrés includes the entire Esquisse range, making it an essential tool for drawing.

These pastels are made from natural pigments (iron oxide, carbon black, titanium dioxide), clay (kaolin) and a binder (cellulose ether). The rich pigment content gives a unique soft texture and intense rendering.



The leads of Carrés Sanguine, Bistre, Noir and Blanc Conté à Paris are slightly softer than those of the pencils. As their name suggests, a simple sketch or an entire monochrome or polychrome work can be created with these Conté à Paris Carrés.

The white and grey Carrés used in the same way as the Sanguine, Bistre and Noir Carrés, although they are intended to be used to modify the colours of the work or for negative drawing (white Carré on black paper, for example).

With its unique square shape, this pastel can be used in a variety of ways: precise lines thanks to the edges, powdery backgrounds and solid colours thanks to the side.

They are miscible with oil or acrylic paints and can be preserved with spray fixative.

The 12 colours in this assortment allow unlimited creativity. The sanguine shades are ideal for portraits and natural sketches, the greys and blacks for shadows, and the white for gradations, subtle highlights or light strokes on colour.

Conté à Paris Carrés can be sharpened with a utility knife, but it is often preferable to file them with sandpaper or a nail file.

For best results, use them on medium-weight paper.
