Sketching carrés x 2 white HB

The leads in the Conté à Paris Sanguine, Bistre, Black and White Sketch Squares are slightly softer than those in the Crayons. As their name suggests, these Conté à Paris squares can be used to produce a simple sketch or an entire work in one or more colours.

The white and grey Carrés are used in the same way as the Sanguine, Bistre and Noir Carrés. However, they are intended to be used to modify the colours of the work or for negative drawing (white square on black paper, for example). They are therefore ideal for the basic sketch of a work intended to be finished in light pastels.

There are 3 graduations available: HB, B, 2B. It is the degree of firing that allows the grade to vary. H for hardness, B for softness. The higher the number, the harder or softer the pencil.

HB being the perfect balance between hardness and softness.

Explore the creation of backgrounds by playing with the edges of the Carré, or create fine, detailed lines with its edges. The harder you press down on the Carré, the denser the material you create.

White Carrés are designed to be used as backgrounds for a work of art, for colour shading, for colour modification or for negative drawing.

Perfect for sketches, portraits or studies of movement, this pastel can also be combined with other techniques such as charcoal or ink.

Conté à Paris Carrés can be sharpened with a utility knife, but it's often best to file them with sandpaper or a nail file.

For best results, use them on medium-weight paper.
